Week: 08 Date of teaching: Tuesday, October 25th , 2016 Period: 29th UNIT 5 Where will you be this weekend? Lesson 3 (1 - 3) Objectives: By the end of this lesson, Ss will be able to: Practice pronouncing two- and three-syllable words with the stress on the first syllable: ‘seaside, islands and ‘countryside. Develop listening and speaking skills. Languages focus: Vocabularies: Review Structures: review. Teaching aids: Teacher’s aids: pictures, cassette, tape, puppets, flashcards. Students’ aids: book, notebook, workbook. Teaching methods: Communicative method. Techniques: + Work in pairs + Work in groups, discuss. + Ask and answer. Procedures: Time Teacher’s Activities Students’ Activities 5’ 10’ 8’ 10’ 4’ 1’ Warm up. Revising the previous lesson. New lesson Listen and repeat. Tell pupil that they are going to practice pronouncing two- and three-syllable words with the stress on the first syllable: ‘seaside, islands and ‘countryside. Put the words ‘seaside, islands and ‘countryside on the board. Play the recoding for pupils to listen. Then play the recording again for them to repeat the sentences. Ask Sts to listen to the tape and mime the sounds a few times. Do choral and individually repetition of the words and sentences until they feel confident. Get some pupils to say the world and sentences. Correct the pronunciation if necessary. Listen and circle a or b. Then say the sentences aloud. Ask Sts to look at the task and introduce how to do the task. Set the sense: now you are going to listen to the recording and circle a or b to complete the sentences. Ask Sts to listen to the tape 2 times and circle to the answers. Ask Sts to listen to the tape once again to check the correct answer and remember the sentences. Then say it aloud. Ask Sts to exchange their answers in groups to do correction. Ask a few questions to check their comprehension. Ask the whole class to repeat each line of the recording in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation. Let’s chant. “Where will you be this weekend?” Show the chant on the board. Order sts read sentences by sentences. Play recording to sts listen and mine. Play recording again to sts listen and mine the chant in chorus. Have students practice to read the chant in groups. And then some groups practice the chant in front of class. Other groups give comments. Consolidation. Repractice pronouncing two- and three-syllable words with the stress on the first syllable: ‘seaside, islands and ‘countryside. Reread the chant “Can you sing?” Homework. Sts sing the song. Listen. Listen to the tape and mime the sounds. Listen and repeat. Do the model. Practice pronounce the sounds Scan the task. Listen and number. Listen again and circle to the answers. Exchange the answers. Ss choose which number they like - If it is a question they have to give out the answer. - Their answer is true. Ss will get 1 point and then move the turn to other. - If it is a lucky number they don’t have to give out the answer. Ss get 2 point and they can choose another number. - Ss will play the game with 2 teams. After the game, which team have got more scores is winner. - Before playing the game. Let’s count to find out who is the first New lesson Read and complete. Ask sts look at the picture, passage and questions. And offer how to do the task. Set the scene: look at the picture, read the passage to take information and then complete the activities of each character. Work in groups. Monitor the activity, go around and offer Sts help when necessary. Ask each group give their answer and give comment together. Ask a few questions to check their comprehension. Write about you: Ask Sts to look at the task and introduce how to do the task. Set the sense: look at the form in the task, now you are going to complete your information to the blanks. Ask Sts to do the task individually in 5 minutes. Call on 2 students write about themselves on the board. The other gives comment. Ask Sts to exchange their answers in groups to do correction. Ask a few questions to check their comprehension. Project. Objectives: By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: - Perform their abilities in listening, speaking and writing related to the topics from units 1-5, using the phonics, vocabulary and sentence patterns they have learnt. - Develop Ss speaking, listening and writing skills. II. Language focus: - Sentence Partners: Revisions. - Vocabulary: Revisions. III. Teaching aids: 1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, cassette. 2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks. IV. Listen and tick - Have pupils look at pictures 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 on page 36 of the Student Book. Give the identification of the characters in the pictures and the characters’ words. Tell pupils that they are going to listen to the recording and tick the pictures they hear. Guess the answer - Play the recording 2 times pupils to listen and tick the boxes. Check their guess. Compare the answer with the partner. - Play the recording again pupils check their answers. T give the answer: - Ask some questions to ensure pupils’ comprehension of the listening text. Language focus: - Sentence Partners: Revisions. - Vocabulary: Revisions. - Phonic: Revisions III. Teaching aids: 1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, cassette. 2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks. IV. Produce: Warm up: - Review the model sentences from unit1 to unit 5 1. Read and Listen to the story This is the first of the four cartoons about Miu and Cat and Chit and Mouse. To help Ps get the idea of the story, simply let them read and listen to this episodes, the initial task will be more challenging. 2. Complete the conversation -Ask students to read the story in the book and fill the suitable words to complete the dialogue. Work in pairs to do the exercise then practice in pairs in front of the whole class. The rest listen to and give the remark.
